Not for Resuscitation Guidelines for Hospices
The purpose of this project was to develop consistent ‘Not for Resuscitation’ Guidelines for hospices across the CCN region.
While some hospices had resuscitation policies these were not consistent regionally. The Palliative Care Network has identified the need for a consistent approach and worked with CCN to facilitate this project.
Regional Palliative Care Medical Specialist Project
In February 2008, the Ministry of Health released new draft Specialist Palliative Care Service Specifications (the National Specifications) signalling the need for changes in the way palliative care services are configured and delivered. The National Specifications will be finalised over the next 2-3 years.
Central Cancer Network (CCN) worked with stakeholders to develop a regional palliative care medical specialist model to support the development of a regionally appointed and deployed workforce. The model was endorsed by the Central Regional Palliative Care Network and the DHBs’ General Managers of Planning and Funding.
MidCentral, Taranaki and Whanganui DHBs (the DHBs) agreed to collectively implement the model and a business case was developed and approved by the respective DHBs. CCN are in the process of working with the DHBs to implement the model.
